- I'm a wife, mother, teacher, and a wanna-be-farmer. We have 35 laying hens. We started our homestead a 4 years ago and hope to slowly grow it into a self-sufficient little farm. I homeschool my 4 children (ages are constantly changing but currently 9 1/2, 11, 12 1/2 and 15). It is far more colossal than I ever dreamed but I wouldn't do it any other way.
